The Chingay parade may be over, but the festive fun continued at the Istana yesterday, with President Halimah Yacob thanking key contributors of this year's parade by inviting them to lunch and joining them to toss yusheng for good fortune. With her were (from left) Singapore Tourism Board director Kenneth Lim, Koh Kock Leong Enterprise managing director Koh Tiam Teck and Singapore Totalisator Board chief executive Fong Yong Kian. More than 30 guests, including sponsors and leaders of major participating organisations of Chingay 2018, attended the lunch. Chingay celebrated its 46th anniversary this year, and more than 220,000 people attended the parade at the F1 Pit Building last Friday and Saturday. There were 6,500 performers each day, including those from Russia, Japan and Indonesia. Madam Halimah, who was the guest of honour at the parade last Saturday, said: "We felt the (warmth), the passion, the commitment of everyone who was there, particularly all the performers. It was such a dazzling display on everyone's part, and it was truly a wonderful experience."
