Indonesian businessman Irvung Tio became a million dollars richer on Sunday, after he became the latest lucky winner of Changi Airport's "Be a Changi Millionaire" draw.

The 47-year-old nabbed the top prize after a tense finale that saw six finalists whittled down to just two potential winners - Mr Tio and Singaporean Thum Pei Xing.

He qualified for the grand draw after buying $667 worth of Shiseido skincare products for his wife at the Terminal 2 departure transit mall last September. "I am very happy," said Mr Tio, whose wife and daughter ran up on stage amidst a shower of confetti to embrace him after his win.

The "Be a Changi Millionaire" promotion ran for six months from May to October last year, and contributed to another record-breaking year on the retail front for Changi Airport Group. Concession sales at Changi Airport grew by 9 per cent last year to hit a new high of more than $2 billion.
