Indian national dies after New Year's Day fight

An Indian national has died after being involved in a fight between two groups of men.

Four men aged 22 to 32 have been arrested over the New Year's Day incident, which has since been classified as murder after one victim, a 24-year-old, died of his injuries yesterday morning.

Police said they received a call about a fight at Jurong Lake Park, located along Chinese Garden Road, at about 1am on Tuesday.

The Straits Times understands that around eight men had been drinking at one of the pavilions in the park and an argument had broken out. Shin Min Daily News reported on Tuesday that the police were likely to have been informed by members of the public who had heard the commotion.

At least four men were injured by wooden sticks and were taken to the National University Hospital.
