Hundreds of pioneers honoured at Sembawang community event

SINGAPORE - About 500 pioneers were each given a thermal flask filled with warm Milo on Sunday at the annual Sembawang GRC Active Ageing Carnival.

Members of Parliament for the constituency, including National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan, distributed the flasks and made a toast to the pioneers, thanking them for their contributions to Singapore.

The flasks symbolised the warmth and love that future generations should have when appreciating pioneers, while the Milo drink represented wishes of good health for the pioneers, said the event organisers.

A total of 2,000 residents attended the carnival, which was held at Woodlands Waterfront Park. Other carnival activities included lion dance and aerobics performances put up by residents.
