From large print books to electronic magnifiers and e-newspaper readers, the public libraries have a myriad of facilities to make reading easier for seniors. For instance, the newly relocated Bedok Public Library has a computer keyboard that has been outfitted with larger keys to make typing easier.

Located on the second level of Heartbeat@Bedok, the book selection and facilities here are designed with the senior reader in mind. Computer classes for seniors under the Silver Infocomm Junction as well as ‘Senior’s Tech and Read’ (S.T.A.R.) programme are held at the Learning Zone of Bedok Public Library.

The S.T.A.R. (Seniors Tech and Read) service launched at Bedok Public Library, has 2 components, Tech Assist and Read Assist. Tech Assist covers enquiries on access and use
of our e-Resources while Read Assist offers support to seniors in reading library materials.

The service is held at Bedok Public Library every Friday from 11am to 3pm. NLB’s Multimedia stations also offer eNewspapers where seniors can zoom in and out of the page to aid reading.
