Electric shock from lamp post: Tear in insulation the likely cause
Fault not visible unless junction box is removed, says town council

One of the two teens in Sunday's incident had held on to the lamp post (left) while trying to retrieve a football that had gone astray. Workers were seen replacing all four lamp posts near the fitness corner in Lorong 5 Toa Payoh on Tuesday.

A small tear in the insulation of a live wire inside the lamp post that touched its metal casing is the probable cause of the electric shock that injured two teens on Sunday.
The tear would not be visible unless the junction box is removed, the Bishan-Toa Payoh Town Council said yesterday.
