Cut demerit points with new safe driving course
From Nov 1 , the Traffic Police will introduce the Safe Driving Course (SDC) as an enhancement to its Driver Improvement Points System.
The SDC aims to educate motorists on safe driving techniques, correct dangerous driving behaviour and encourage good road habits.
Motorists who have accumulated half or more of their maximum demerit points will receive a letter from Nov 4 inviting them to attend the SDC.
Those who complete the SDC will have three demerit points cancelled from their records.
Call for families to claim Mount Vernon niches
The claim and registration process for the relocation of 20,000 niches at the Mount Vernon Columbarium started yesterday. Next-of-kin have until June 30, 2017, to claim these niches, the National Environment Agency (NEA) announced yesterday.
The columbarium will be cleared to make way for the development of the upcoming Bidadari housing estate.

Over $61,000 worth of drugs seized in raid
More than $61,000 worth of drugs were seized in an operation on Tuesday, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said yesterday. The drugs included about 1kg of cannabis, 95 LSD stamps and around 130g of Ice. Three men were arrested in relation to the operation.
Three others - two Singaporeans and a Malaysian - were also arrested for drug-related offences on Tuesday in a separate operation.
