Book on healthcare traces S'pore efforts

A book looking back at Singapore's milestones in healthcare was launched yesterday.

Titled Caring For Our People: 50 Years Of Healthcare In Singapore, it documents how the Republic fought to reduce the high rates of infant mortality in past decades, up to the introduction of initiatives like MediShield Life to improve overall healthcare for Singaporeans in recent years.

Some 11,000 copies of the books will be distributed to healthcare and education institutions, libraries and government ministries.

Police have arrested 20 women suspected of vice-related activities in residential areas in the west and north of Singapore.

In a two-day operation on Tuesday and Wednesday, Jurong Division officers conducted simultaneous raids at multiple locations, including Woodlands and Bukit Batok. The suspects were believed to have advertised sexual services online and carried out vice activities in residential units.
