$99k worth of heroin seized, 4 nabbed

About 1.4kg of heroin worth more than $99,000 has been seized and a suspected drug trafficker arrested, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said yesterday.

CNB officers nabbed a 46-year-old Singaporean man who was seen meeting a suspected drug associate, a 63-year-old Singaporean man, and two Malaysian men - aged 22 and 24 - at the void deck of a block in Yishun. All four were arrested.

Guidelines on handling frozen seafood

The first set of guidelines on how to handle frozen fish and seafood safely was launched yesterday by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation Standards Development Organisation and Spring Singapore.

It provides instructions on proper temperature control of raw and minimally processed frozen seafood, from the point of post-harvest to retail.

Adopt-a-Community scheme launched

The North East Community Development Council launched a new programme yesterday aimed at getting corporations and individuals to give back through volunteerism and in-kind contributions.

The Adopt-a-Community programme will support initiatives such as mobile libraries and provide low-income youth with pocket money for meals.
