70 suspects nabbed in anti-drug operation

The Central Narcotics Bureau, supported by police, arrested 70 suspected drug offenders after a five-day islandwide operation from Nov 8 till yesterday.

More than $56,000 of drugs were seized, including about 735g of heroin, 110g of cannabis and 6g of Ice.

In one of the raids, officers arrested a 43-year-old male Singaporean in Marsiling Road, and a search revealed several individually packed packets of heroin, weighing about 689g in total.

Hep C: 6 more tested, no new cases found

Another six patients have been screened for Hepatitis C, with no new cases found.

In a statement yesterday, the Singapore General Hospital said a total of 917 patients have been screened as of 1pm, up from 911 patients as of Thursday afternoon.

These patients were admitted to Ward 64A and Ward 67 between January and September this year. Of these, 891 tested negative and three positive as announced earlier, with 23 test results pending.

A total of 317 staff have been screened and all the results were negative.

More than 1,500 jobs on offer at job fair

More than 1,500 jobs in sectors such as healthcare, retail and transportation will be on offer at a job fair today organised by the Chinese Development Assistance Council. The event at Sengkang Community Club runs from 11am to 5pm.

There are full-time, part- time and temporary jobs for Singaporeans and permanent residents, including positions for professionals, managers and executives.
