Professor David Chan

Director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute, Singapore Management University

Public Administration Medal (Silver)

Professor Chan has a host of publications and scholarly awards to his name, but is far from being an ivory-tower academic.

Over the years, he has lent his expertise to many public and private sector organisations, helping them understand how human behaviours are shaped by the social, cultural and organisational settings people find themselves in.

"I find it meaningful when I can translate science into practice in ways that can help address issues in society," said Prof Chan, who is a Lee Kuan Yew Fellow and director of the Behavioural Sciences Institute at Singapore Management University.

"Over the years, I have had the opportunity to contribute my expertise to many different national issues in Singapore."

These range from diabetes prevention, workplace safety and health to problem gambling.
