Wearable tracking devices top fitness trend next year

Smart watches, activity trackers and other wearable tracking devices will be the biggest fitness trend next year.

It is the second time in a row that such wearable technology has come up tops in an annual survey of worldwide fitness trends conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Body-weight training and high-intensity interval training also maintain their second and third positions respectively.

Some activities that are still fairly popular failed to make it to the top 20 trends in the survey. These include the Zumba workout, indoor cycling and pilates.

Now in its 11th year, the survey saw the participation of more than 1,800 health and fitness professionals around the world, including Singapore.
