SINGAPORE - Patients can go online or call the Community Health Assist Scheme (Chas) hotline to find out how much of their subsidy for chronic medical conditions they have used up.

This subsidy limit is refreshed yearly.

Minister of State for Health Lam Pin Min said in Parliament on Monday that patients under the scheme - including pioneers - can monitor their annual balance through the Chas website (https://www.chas.sg), or the Chas hotline at 1800-ASK-CHAS (1800-276-2427).

He was responding to Mr Baey Yam Keng (Tampines GRC), who wanted to know whether patients under the scheme can check their balances so as to safeguard against fraudulent claims.

Noting the growing request for other ways to check subsidy balances, Dr Lam said the Ministry of Health (MOH), will look into some of the suggestions made.

He also encouraged patients to speak to clinics if they have any queries on treatments and charges, and to ask for itemised receipts.

MOH closely monitors Chas subsidy claims submitted by clinics and takes feedback on potential cases of abuse seriously, he added.
