SINGAPORE - A new nursing home will open in Margaret Drive in 2017, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education Indranee Rajah said in a post on her Facebook page on Monday.

The proposed home will provide nursing and rehabilitation care to seniors who require an extended recovery time after discharge from hospitals here.

It will also include a senior care centre, to assist families in looking after their elder family members in the day while they are at work. The facility will have estimated 290 beds, while the care centre can serve around 100 seniors daily.

In the post, Ms Indranee, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC, noted the high elderly population in the Queenstown area. "I hope residents at Margaret Drive and the surrounding estates will volunteer at the home and welcome our seniors into the community when it opens," Ms Indranee said.
