Insurers offer carrots to keep IPs as 'last payers'

Customers get cash, vouchers to tap private or employer insurance first for medical bills

"Dear customer, your PRUshield claim is approved. Receive up to $150 and preserve your policy limit when you recover this claim from your group insurance."

Prudential customers are being urged to turn to other insurers, like those contracted by their employers, before tapping their integrated plans (IPs) to pay medical bills. Doing so gets these customers a cash present of $150 for claims above $1,500, and $80 for smaller claims. Some have done so and been rewarded, said a Prudential spokesman.
