Insurers offer carrots to keep IPs as 'last payers'

Customers get cash, vouchers to tap private or employer insurance first for medical bills

Prudential customers are being urged to turn to other insurers, like those contracted by their employers, before tapping their integrated plans (IPs) to pay medical bills. Doing so gets these customers a cash present of $150 for claims above $1,500, and $80 for smaller claims. Some have done so and been rewarded, said a Prudential spokesman.
