More than 1,000 Bedok residents got up early for a 2.5km walk around their area yesterday. The 7.30am event was part of a carnival organised to raise awareness of health issues, including managing chronic conditions through medication and lifestyle changes. The walk ended with talks on health, games and other activities. Pharmacists were on hand to answer questions from residents. Bedok has one of Singapore's fastest-growing elderly communities.
