Doctor suspended one year for giving patients hundreds of sleeping pills

Dr Tan Kok Jin of Medicus Clinic and Surgery in Jurong West was found guilty of excessive prescription of hypnotics, keeping poor records and for not referring his patients to a specialist for better care.

SINGAPORE - A doctor who had, among other things, given one patient 1,100 sleeping pills over 33 months - or more than one a day - has been suspended from practice for a year.
The penalty would have been a two-year suspension, but he was given a 50 per cent reduction as it took five years for the case to be heard.
