SINGAPORE – When he was in Secondary 3, Mr Tan Pui Lok spent long stretches of time in an intensive care ward, where his older brother was hospitalised for two weeks.

Mr Tan, now 20, recalls feeling moved by how the nurses cared for his brother while also showing him and his family members concern, such as checking in on him when they saw him doing homework and studying.
