The Housing Board (HDB) has completed 9,000 flats this year, and is on track to deliver its promised 13,600 flats by the end of the year.

"We will press on to deliver more flats to young couples, so that they can start their family soon," said National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan on Friday. He added that HDB targets to complete more than 28,000 new flats next year.

Mr Khaw wrote about the announcement on his blog after a project completion ceremony at Floral Spring @ Yishun. He announced in June that 6,000 new flats had been completed then.

"More than just meeting numbers, HDB is also delivering quality flats to home buyers," he added. Floral Spring @ Yishun, for example, achieved a high construction quality score comparable to those of condominiums, with minimal inconvenience to its neighbouring residential blocks, wrote Mr Khaw.
