Three bus services that ply through Geylang Serai will take on a Hari Raya theme, in a first this year.
Yesterday morning, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, launched the initiative by taking a trip on one of the services, 28, from Tampines Bus Interchange.
Mr Masagos, who is an MP for Tampines GRC, mingled with commuters and gave out green packets. "Commuters were pleasantly surprised when we pointed out to them the colours that decorated the bus.
Particularly, the Malay commuters were extremely happy about it," he said. The initiative is part of a move by the Land Transport Authority to create a "people-centred" transport system, in collaboration with SBS Transit.
The other two services which feature the themed buses are 13 and 21. Commuters have until the end of the month to view the buses.
