Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew will respond to recommendations made by a fare review committee on Monday (Nov 11) in Parliament.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Mr Lui said he will speak on issues such as when the fare concessions will be implemented, whether and when there will be a fare increase, and what will happen to the 2012 fare review that was suspended due to the committee's review. He will also reply to questions from MPs related to public transport affordability.
Mr Lui said he is encouraged that "many Singaporeans are supportive of the Fare Review Mechanism Committee (FRMC)'s recommendations, particularly those on fare concessions".
The FRMC released an 85-page report on Tuesday that recommended a myriad concessions including discounts for lower-income workers and the disabled, as well as a revised fare formula with an energy index that better reflects costs incurred by the public transport operators.
