About 6,000 people armed with picnic mats and a love for music attended a free classical concert last evening at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra played tunes such as Modest Mussorgsky's Night On Bald Mountain and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Overture. The show, headed by associate conductor Joshua Tan, is part of Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) Gift of Music series. This is the 12th run of free community concerts sponsored by SPH. Other highlights this year include the Singapore Wind Symphony Youth Winds at Paragon on April 23, and The Straits Times Concert in the Park at Singapore Botanic Gardens by SSO on July 22.
