4 men arrested for illegal gambling in public

SINGAPORE - Four men have been arrested for their suspected involvement in public gambling, the police said on Monday (Jan 29).

The suspects, aged between 64 and 81, were arrested in Crawford Lane by officers from Central Police Division on Saturday.

A total of $766 in cash was seized and investigations are continuing.

Under the Common Gaming Houses Act, any person gaming in public is guilty of an offence and, on conviction, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to a prison term not more than six months, or both.

The police said they will continue to take tough action against those involved in such illegal activities.
