Korean conflict which left a lasting impression on East Asia and US is in spotlight once again

In Gran Torino, a movie released in 2008, Clint Eastwood, Hollywood's iconic badass, plays Walt Kowalski, a retired auto worker who scares off a bunch of Hmong Asian gangsters with a warning about his war record in Korea.

"We used to stack f***s like you five feet high in Korea," he says in his classic hoarse whisper, staring down the barrel of a gun pointed at the short, squat gang leader. "Use you for sandbags."
