A giant floral clock made up of 5,000 plants was unveiled near the Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay yesterday by Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan. The 7m-wide timepiece will be refreshed regularly and showcases tropical plants not commonly displayed in Singapore such as the Madagascar periwinkle, spider blooms and wishbone flowers. It was created by Gardens by the Bay and watchmaking manufacturer Audemars Piguet to commemorate Singapore's 50th year of independence.
