Floor cleaner Sofix Parquet recalled as precautionary measure

Floor cleaner Sofix Parquet, which is sold in supermarkets here, has been pulled off the shelves as a precautionary measure by its company.

In a statement on Thursday, Sofix said a routine quality control check found that the product may contain micro-organisms that could adversely affect the health of those with weak immune systems if the product gets into an open wound or the eye, ear or mouth. "This recall is being undertaken as a precautionary measure to guard against this very unlikely event which may cause an infection," the statement said.

Consumers who have this product should stop using it, close the bottle properly and store it in a safe place. For further information on how to return the product, consumers can use the contact form on www.henkel.sg/sofix or call the toll-free number 1800-390-3323 to provide their contact and product details. Phone lines are open from 9 am to 9pm from Thursday to May 30.

Consumers are advised to visit their general practitioner if they experience any symptoms from the product getting into an open wound or the eye, ear or mouth. The other Sofix products are not affected by the recall and the Sofix Parquet that are in stores will be unavailable for now, the company added.
