SINGAPORE - A pipe leak at the construction site of an MRT station led to flooding and a traffic jam at Upper Thomson on Friday.

PUB said it received a report of a pipe leak at the construction worksite for the Upper Thomson MRT station at around 11am. The site is near the junction of Soo Chow Garden Road and Upper Thomson Road.

The Land Transport Authority tweeted at 11.30am that there was flooding "on Upper Thomson Road (towards SLE) after Jalan Pelatina with congestion till Jalan Pelatina".

Officers from PUB isolated the leak at 1.10pm, the national water agency said in a statement. The water fully subsided and traffic returned to normal at 1.30pm. The pipe was repaired by 2.30pm, and water supply to customers was not affected.

The cause of the leak is under investigation.

The Upper Thomson MRT is part of the Thomson Line, which is slated for completion in 2019.
