SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at the Singapore Pools building on Middle Road on Friday (June 16) night.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at 11.05pm and dispatched two fire engines, two red rhinos, two fire bikes and three support vehicles to the scene.

"The fire was put out by the building's sprinkler system prior to our arrival," said an SCDF spokesman.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

A photo taken by a Straits Times reader showed two fire engines parked outside the building.

Singapore Pools moved its operations from PoMo on Selegie Road to the current building at the junction of Middle Road and Prinsep Street in February 2013.

The building houses its corporate offices, main branch, a draw hall and other office tenants.
