A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon at a ground floor shop unit in Rochor Centre.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident at 2.03pm. Together with the police, they evacuated everyone at the three-storey complex. An SCDF spokesman said that the blaze was extinguished with two water jets within 20 minutes, and there were no reported injuries. The cause of fire is still under investigation.

MP for Moulmein-Kallang GRC Denise Phua, visited the site at about 3.20pm. She told The Straits Times: "We are all very concerned because it's a high traffic area. Luckily no one was injured."
