SINGAPORE - About 60 people were affected after a fire broke out at Orchard Towers on Tuesday night (Feb 6).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told The Straits Times that it was alerted to the fire at 400 Orchard Road at 7.56pm.

"SCDF firefighters, donning breathing apparatus sets, extinguished the fire using one water jet and a compressed air foam backpack," said the spokesman.

The fire involved contents of a bar top, SCDF said, without elaborating.

About 60 people had evacuated by themselves before SCDF arrived.
