SINGAPORE - About 40 residents were evacuated after a fire broke out at a Housing Board flat on Bedok Reservoir Road.

No injuries were reported.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to a fire at Block 624 Bedok Reservoir Road at 12.35pm on Saturday (Feb 6).

The fire involved the contents of a bedroom in a first-floor flat. It was put out by the SCDF using two water jets.

About 40 residents were evacuated before SCDF arrived.

Aljunied GRC MP Pritam Singh, who was at the scene, said that neighbours and the police helped in the evacuation.

He wrote on Facebook: "I just came back from the scene of a fire at Blk 624 - the cause has not been established. Luckily, no one was hurt, and that was down to the quick work of neighbours and the Singapore Police Force who assisted in the evacuation effort."

The cause of fire is under investigation, SCDF said.
