A fire broke out at a two-storey shophouse at Block 88 Circuit Road on Thursday.

The blaze caused damage to items at the ground floor of the hardware shop.

Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), who were alerted to the incident at 7.45pm, broke into the shop premises using a power saw.

A SCDF spokesman said the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes.

No one was injured. The shop's five occupants and nearby tenants had self-evacuated before the SCDF officers arrived at the scene.

It is unclear what caused the fire. Investigations are ongoing.
