Fire at Serangoon Ave 4, no injuries reported

SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at Block 220, Serangoon Avenue 4 on Thursday (March 2) morning, but no one was injured.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the fire at about 11.15am.

Firefighters forced entry into the 12th-floor flat and extinguished the fire using one water jet. No injuries were reported.

Homeowner Chen Yi Zhu, 55, was shopping at the nearby Nex shopping mall when her husband Lim Jian An called.

Mr Lim, 58, works as a cleaner at the nearby Peicai Secondary School.

He saw the thick smoke coming out of the flat and called his wife.

After verifying with a friend who lives in the adjacent block, Ms Chen dialed 995 immediately, she said.

The blaze was believed to have been in the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, SCDF said.

Two fire engines, one Red Rhino, two fire bikes, an ambulance, and one support vehicle were sent to the scene.
