An elderly female pedestrian died in an accident involving a lorry on Wednesday.

Police were alerted at 12.11pm to the incident, which took place at the carpark of Block 303 Hougang Avenue 5. The woman, a 70-year-old Singaporean, was later certified dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

The driver was arrested for allegedly causing death by a rash act. The Straits Times understands that he is a 24-year-old Chinese national. Investigations are ongoing.
