So radical that the idea seems shocking, face transplants have been performed on some 40 people in the world, giving these individuals who have been disfigured through violence or accident the chance of a normal life.
A team of doctors here are working together to develop the capability to perform this high-risk, life-altering surgery, in the hopes that they can help such disfigured individuals in future.
