Ex-SMRT VP assumes new role as YMCA's general secretary

A former vice-president of SMRT Corporation has been appointed as the new general secretary of YMCA of Singapore, a volunteer-based Christian organisation.

Mr Lo Chee Wen headed SMRT's taxi business as vice-president from 2006 to 2010, and was previously also the company's organisation development unit director and deputy director of station operations.

His new role with YMCA was effective from March 4, announced the volunteer organisation on Wednesday.

Mr Lo's years of corporate and social service sector experience was cited as one of the reasons behind his selection. He has also been actively involved in community service, aiding small charities under the umbrella of National Council of Social Service to set up financial procedures, said YMCA.
