EVENING daily Lianhe Wanbao is planning a series of activities to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Today, it kicked off celebrations with a mass workout at the open field behind Buangkok MRT station. Close to 2,000 people turned up for the event which included a 2km mass brisk walk and a Zumba dance workout.
Other programmes that readers can look forward to include a health and beauty fair and a gourmet food event.
Editor of Lianhe Wanbao, Mr Chua Chim Kang said that the paper has been a trusted companion to readers.
"Dedication has been Lianhe Wanbao's guiding promise to our readers for the past 30 years. It is also a reflection of the editorial team's devotion and passion in presenting the most informative, accurate and complete news to them."
Guest-of-honour for the event Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean said that such events will help the newspaper understand readers better.
"It helps journalists understand what the interests of the public are, and it also helps the public understand that the newspapers are also reaching out to them in multiple ways, not just through print," said DPM Teo.
Established in 1983, Lianhe Wanbao is published by Singapore Press Holdings.
