SINGAPORE - Heavy rain with thunder was experienced in many parts of Singapore on Thursday, sending people scrambling for their umbrellas and ponchos.

Thunderstorms, which are characterised by lighting with claps of thunder and strong wind gusts, occur mostly in the afternoons and are expected to persist over the weekend.

The weather improved towards the evening and the sun managed to shine through the clouds in certain areas of Singapore, proving that there's always a rainbow after the storm.
