Underwater glow in Singapore's waters caused by unusual algae pairing

SINGAPORE - The inky black sea glowed with every stroke that marine microbiologist, Associate Professor Rebecca Case, took through the waters off Changi Beach last Thursday night (March 24).
Her silhouette shimmered with a blue glow even from afar - evidence of the blooming microbial life that had over the past few days provided a light show that drew throngs of people to the Republic's eastern beaches.
