Fire breaks out at Kent Vale Serviced Residences

SINGAPORE - Around 30 people were evacuated from Kent Vale Serviced Residences on Monday morning after a fire broke out in an apartment unit.

The Clementi Road building houses guests and visitors to the nearby National University of Singapore (NUS). No injuries were reported.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call at around 11.20am and sent two fire engines, one red rhino, one support vehicle and an ambulance to the location.

Firefighters arrived to find thick black smoke coming out a 24th floor unit and extinguished the fire within 15 minutes using two water jets.

According to the SCDF, the fire involved the contents of a bedroom. The cause is still being investigated.

A Facebook post by the Office of Housing Services, NUS, on Monday afternoon said that "operations are back to normal and residents are back to their apartments".
