The ST170 Treats contest moved into top gear yesterday as its final - and biggest - prize was unveiled.
Straits Times editor Warren Fer-nandez took delivery of a Land Rover Discovery Sport which will be won by one lucky reader as part of celebrations to mark the newspaper's 170 years.
Mr Fernandez, who will present the car to the lucky draw winner at the ST Run at the Hub at the National Stadium on Sept 27, said: "We have ST readers firmly in mind as we mark our 170th anniversary and Singapore's 50th birthday.
"This is the latest of a year-long series of special treats for our readers, from concert tickets and dining treats to overseas holidays.
"Many of us dream of owning a cool car like this Land Rover. Now one lucky ST reader will have that dream made real, thanks to our sponsors. It's just one more reason to keep reading the ST."
The car is sponsored by Wearnes Automotive, the distributor for Jaguar and Land Rover.
Its managing director Victor Kwan said: "We are excited to be a partner with ST, especially for such a significant landmark event. We have worked hard over the last few months to put this together and are very happy to be officially handing over the car today."
Entries will be whittled down to a pre-draw list of 2,000. Those shortlisted will be contacted via e-mail or mobile phone. The grand draw will be held during the ST Run. The winner must be present at the event in order to receive the car.
Participating runners can enter the contest by mailing their confirmation slip to the competition address. Other readers can enter by looking out for a coupon which appears in the newspaper, cutting it out and mailing it to: Singapore Press Holdings, MacPherson Road Post Office, Locked Bag Service No. 050, Singapore 913486.
The contest ends on Aug 21.
