Energy-saving app for South West district residents

RESIDENTS in the South West district will be able to tell how much utilities they are using, then try to cut down on their consumption even more, with a new online app that was launched today.

Once they have downloaded the app and signed up, they will be able to track exactly how much water and electricity they are consuming each month.

To encourage residents to save energy, the app also throws up challenges that residents can take up to win credits, which can then be exchanged for supermarket vouchers and other prizes.

"Through this, residents can learn how to make simple changes in their lifestyle to save energy and reduce their utility expenses," said South West district mayor Amy Khor at the launch.

For six months, the app will only be available to South West district residents. It will be open to other Singaporeans after that.
