Three company directors were charged in the Subordinate Courts on Thursday for not paying salaries to their workers, while another was charged for giving false information to the Manpower Ministry (MOM).

Two of those charged were husband and wife. Mr Ong Jeau Leang allegedly owed about $35,000 to eight employees of publishing firm RPM Media, and close to $3,000 to one employee of Apex Media Pte Ltd. RPM Media was investigated by MOM after failing to pay salary arrears despite orders from the Commissioner for Labour.

Mr Ong's wife, Madam Oi Leng Li, was the director of Eventus Inc Marketing Pte Ltd, which allegedly owed close to $2,500 in salary to one employee. She was previously convicted of similar offences in 2012 as director of two other companies, MMX Publishing and Media Boys Pte Ltd.

The third director, Mr Borhan Bin Saini, allegedly failed to pay salaries to employees in two firms, Wellcare Medical & Executive Concierge Services Pte Ltd and Wellcare Travel & Tours Pte Ltd.

Separately, Mr Sam Oh Tiong Li, a director of OTS Cleaning Pte Ltd, was charged on Thursday with providing false documents and false statements to an MOM investigating officer. This was allegedly during investigations following MOM's inspection of the firm's employment conditions.
