SINGAPORE - An elderly driver was taken to hospital after accidentally accelerating into two parked cars at a Bishan shopping mall on Tuesday (March 14) morning. An elderly passenger in the car was also injured.

Police told The Straits Times on Tuesday that they were alerted to an accident involving three cars at Junction 8 at 11.23am.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told The Straits Times that they were alerted at 11.25am and dispatched one ambulance.

ST understands that a 77-year-old woman and 81-year-old man were taken conscious to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The incident occurred at B1 of the carpark, citizen journalism site Stomp first reported on Tuesday.

ST understands that the elderly driver was trying to park the car when it suddenly accelerated and crashed into two other cars, which had no passengers in them at the time.

Police investigations are ongoing.
