Eight-week long Great Singapore Sale starts Friday

While the deals will remain largely the same as in previous years, consumers can expect more rewards with every dollar they spend during this year's Great Singapore Sale (GSS).

Dr Jannie Chan, the president of the Singapore Retailers Association, which organises the sale, said this on Thursday at a press conference to launch the annual event. She added that people are no longer lured by just discounts and expect more value for their dollar.

To cater to this and to mark the GSS 20th anniversary this year, the SRA will be giving away $20,000 to the biggest spender. More details can be found on the website, www.greatsingaporesale.com.sg/promotion.

Dr Chan added that she expects a three to five per cent increase in sales revenue from this year's GSS. SRA is also giving away $20,000 to its supported charity, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The money will go towards over 100 under-privileged children through two charity events.
