Eight motorcycles on fire at open-air carpark in Hougang

Eight motorcycles caught fire at an open-air carpark in Hougang early Tuesday morning.

The police said they received a call requesting for assistance at Block 704, Hougang Avenue 2 at 3.45am. The Singapore Civil Defence Force sent two fire engines and extinguished the fire in 10 minutes using a water jet.

No one was injured but the cause of the fire, which left the motorcycles completely burnt, was not clear.

Mr Kenneth Seng, 27, who lives on the second floor of the block, was awakened by a loud "boom", and the heard someone shouting "fire" in Hokkien shortly after. The advertising executive said he called for a fire engine immediately. He also took photographs and sent them to citizen journalism website Stomp.
