For me, the timing was a bit odd.
Even as Education Minister Ong Ye Kung was chairing a press conference last Friday (Sept 28) to announce fewer examinations for students and less emphasis on grades, about 40,000 12-year-olds were sitting for their Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) maths paper.
