SINGAPORE - The Ministry of Education (MOE) has sent out a warning over fake websites for Singapore's five polytechnics.

In a ministry statement early Sunday (Jan 31) morning, it advised members of the public to use only the following websites for all informational and transactional needs concerning polytechnic matters: www.sp.edu.sg, www.np.edu.sg, www.tp.edu.sg, www.rp.edu.sg and www.nyp.edu.sg.

Access to the respective official websites for the five polytechnics remains unaffected, said MOE.

Examples of fake sites include www.nap.ac.cn, www.nypsg.com, www.rp.ac.cn, www.sp.ac.cn and www.sgtp.com.cn, MOE said in response to queries from The Straits Times.

"However, these examples may not be exhaustive. We would like to advise the public to exercise constant vigilance against similar fake sites," the ministry added.

It said fake websites surface from time to time and reminded the public not to refer to information or engage in any transactions on such sites.

Police reports have been filed by the respective polytechnics over the fake sites.

"We will work to bring down these websites and will continue to monitor for such websites," MOE said.
