IT consultant Larry Leong, 47, may have missed the live telecast of the National Day Parade yesterday, but he is proudly bearing the Singapore flag in another way. He left Singapore yesterday morning for a road trip to London, which is about 20,000km away. He aims to arrive there on Oct 13. He is driving a 14-year-old Land Rover Defender, and is accompanied by his wife Simone, in her 40s, and daughter Lucy, five. Another Singaporean who will make the journey is retired plastic surgeon Ng Chin Lin, 68, a co-driver in a Malaysian-registered car. Mr Leong said: "I'm not sure whether I over-packed or under-packed. But what is important is that our family is doing this together. This is our way of celebrating SG50." ST PHOTO: YEO KAI WEN
