A driver believed to be under the influence of drugs knocked over seven motorcycles parked at an open-air carpark in Pasir Ris on Monday night.
The police said yesterday that they were alerted to a hit-and-run case involving a car and seven motorcycles at Block 118, Pasir Ris Street 11, at 9.56pm on Monday.
"No injuries were reported and a 35-year-old man was arrested for drug-related offences," said a police spokesman.
Facebook user Shafeeqah Ros uploaded pictures of the aftermath of the incident onto the social media platform at 10.11pm on Monday. She said she heard a loud bang and saw a car hit the motorcycles before being driven away.
After knocking into the motorcycles, the driver allegedly reversed and drove into the vehicles again, Shin Min Daily News reported yesterday. An eyewitness told reporters that she heard a loud bang, followed by the screeching of brakes and another bang.
"I saw seven motorbikes getting knocked down, but the driver continued driving and got out only about 100m away," said the woman, who was identified only as Ms Wang, a 43-year-old who works in the service industry.
"(The driver) checked his bumper and a man came forward to talk to him, but did not manage to make him stay. He later returned to his car and drove away."
Apart from broken motorcycle parts strewn on the road, the car's bumper and licence plate were left behind.
Police investigations are ongoing.
